The drive axle is one of the core components of a wheel loader’s transmission system. It handles speed reduction and torque increase, differential power distribution, and load-bearing duties. For common models such as the ZL50G, ZL50GN, and LW500, the condition of the drive axle directly affects traction, steering performance, and tire life.

A drive axle usually consists of the axle housing, main reducer, differential, half shafts, wheel-side reducer, and planetary gear mechanism. The main reducer converts the high-speed, low-torque output from the transmission into low-speed, high-torque power. The differential allows the left and right wheels to rotate at different speeds during turns. The sun gear, planetary gears, and ring gear in the planetary mechanism participate in wheel-side reduction to increase final drive torque.
On the LIANYU Global product page, the Axle Assembly 250301709 and 250301710 are shown for XCMG machinery. The ZL50G 275102056 Transmission System Axle Differential Assembly relates to differential assembly replacement and maintenance. In addition, 250300307 and ZL50.2A.1A.1-11 Axle Parts Sun Gear Planetary are suitable for the ZL50G and ZL50GN. The 275100167 Spiral Drive Axle Bevel Gear is suitable for the LW188, LW300, and LW500. The 275101678 Front and Rear Main Reducer is suitable for models such as the ZL50G.
Common faults include abnormal noise from the drive axle during driving or operation, which may be related to gear wear, incorrect meshing clearance, or bearing damage. Oil leaks from the axle housing are often related to aging oil seals or blocked breather holes. Overheating may be caused by insufficient oil, incorrect oil type, or excessive bearing preload. During maintenance, check the axle oil level and quality regularly, observe the amount of iron debris on the magnetic drain plug, replace gear oil according to the manual, and check the half-shaft bolts and main reducer tightening torque. If metal debris increases significantly, disassemble and inspect as soon as possible to avoid further damage to gears and planetary gears.
